Topic: To Be Retired As a Snowbird

Abstract: If you are planning your retirement in U.S. Sunbelt as a snowbird, or to invest in U.S. real property, this seminar is designed with you in mind. The seminar attempts to answer the common questions about U.S. tax that arise out of being a snowbird. Topics covered include determining if U.S. tax laws affect you, types of U.S. residency, renting U.S. property, selling U.S. property, U.S. gift tax, paying U.S. and Canadian taxes on death, and the Canada – U.S. Tax Convention (“the tax treaty”). Also covered are strategies for reducing tax on U.S. vacation property, filing deadline with IRS, tax information exchange between the U.S. and Canada, tips before leaving Canada, and other topics.

Abstract: If you are planning your retirement, or you are interested in tax knowledge in respect to retirement, this seminar is designed with you in mind. The seminar attempts to answer the common questions about Canadian income tax that arise out of being retired. Topics covered include types of income in retirement and how they are differently taxed; common deductions, tax credits, tax shelters and how they work effectively, early retirement tax planning and tax-efficient allocation of assets. Also covered are Canadian tax treatments of retirement in foreign country and/or receiving foreign income, such as foreign pension income.
